SIBU (March 14): The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch must continue to uphold its commitment to serve the people and remain attentive to the needs of the local community, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He called on the branch leadership to engage more proactively with the younger generation in Sibu to foster creative and critical thinking, while helping to drive local development.

“Such dedication is not only about striving for greater development opportunities today, but also about ensuring that the next generation can enjoy a better Sarawak in the future,” he said during a brief stop at the Bawang Assan branch’s mobile service session at a coffee shop here.

During the visit, Dr Sim also interacted with members of the public who were dining at the coffee shop.

At the mobile service session, he encouraged the branch team to remain committed to serving the people.

SUPP Bawang Assan Branch chairman and Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) councillor Kevin Lau said bringing the service directly into the community allows residents to approach the team and seek assistance whenever they face problems.

Lau also expressed his appreciation to the coffee shop owner for providing the venue and to his team members who contributed their time and effort to serve the community.
