SIMANGGANG: A Form Four student was killed after the motorcycle he was riding veered into the path of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Sunday (Oct 4).
The accident happened at around 4.30 pm along KM52, Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching, and involved a Honda Wave motorcycle and a Toyota Fortuner.
Sri Aman police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said initial investigations found that the Fortuner, travelling from Sibu towards Kuching, collided with the victim’s motorcycle, which suddenly skidded out of control.
“The victim and his motorcycle then entered the right lane before being hit by the Fortuner.
“As a result, the victim, a 16-year-old student from SMK Matang Hilir in Kuching, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
