KUCHING, Mar 11: Students from SK Kujang Mawang are now benefiting from a free bus service provided by Yayasan Sarawak, marking an expansion of the foundation’s initiative to improve school access for pupils in rural areas.
According to a news report by TVS, the free transportation programme was officially launched for the SK Kujang Mawang Tebedu students at a ceremony today, covering three villages – Kampung Kujang Mawang, Kampung Kujang Pelaman and Kampung Pengkalan Amo – located about 11 kilometres from the school.
Tebedu assemblyman Dr. Simon Sinang Bada said the service significantly eases the daily commute for students while reducing the burden on parents, many of whom are busy with daily economic activities.
“With this free bus service, parents can save on fuel and vehicle maintenance costs, and ensure their children arrive at school safely and on time,” he said, adding that the programme reflects the Sarawak government’s commitment under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to ensure no child in the state is left behind in education.
The initiative represents a broader effort to expand free student transportation services to rural communities, making education more accessible and supporting families in remote areas. — DayakDaily
