KUCHING (Jan 11): The family of 12-year-old Lee Xin Yue, who recently underwent a successful kidney transplant, hosted a dinner on Friday to thank Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang and his team for their financial support.
Xin Yue, who had suffered from kidney failure since early childhood, urgently needed a transplant last August to save her life.
Her father, Jun Kiong, donated a kidney, and both are now recovering well.
The girl’s mother, Nie Zhi Min, expressed heartfelt thanks to Lo and his team, saying: “Without Lo Khere Chiang and his team, my daughter might not be alive today. You saved her life.”
When Xin Yue’s condition worsened last year, Jun Kiong reached out for financial help, and Lo responded promptly.
Following compatibility tests confirming Jun Kiong could donate, Lo and his team launched a fundraising campaign that raised RM33,685 in just three days, with contributions from 165 donors.
The funds enabled the family to travel to Kuala Lumpur for the surgery.
With the transplant successful and both recovering, Xin Yue is expected to return to school tomorrow to continue pursuing her dreams.
