KUCHING, Aug 18: Sarawakian boxer, Marcos Robert, competing in the 71-kilogramme (kg) boxing category at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXI, clinched an early victory against Jimey Killah from the Federal Territories.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, following his successful match, Marcos is set to face Jonathan John from Sabah in the quarterfinals, which will take place on Aug 19 at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium in Sri Aman.

There were four teams facing off in the 71kg category, with Johor facing Perlis and Sarawak taking on the Federal Territories.

Both Johor and Sarawak advanced to the quarterfinals after securing victories in their respective matches.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Sarawak Boxing Association President Datuk Rahman Lariwoo, Deputy President of Johor Boxing and Johor’s Deputy Chief De Mission, Muhammad Farkan Haron, as well as Johor State Sports Council Deputy Director Muhammad Ali Abdul Karim. — DayakDaily
