BINTULU (Aug 13): Football squads from Kedah, Penang and Melaka touched down at Bintulu Airport on Saturday night, marking their arrival for the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma). They were welcomed by Sukma Bintulu Division secretariat which comprised various local agencies.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the footballers were greeted by vibrant cultural performances by various ethnic groups, all dressed in their traditional attire to showcase Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage.

They proceeded to their accommodation at ADTEC Bintulu where they will be staying throughout the competition.

The football matches are played at the Bintulu Stadium and UPM Bintulu Field from August 12-16.

The competition kicked off with Penang facing Melaka on Aug 12 followed by Melaka against Kedah (Aug 14) and Kedah against Penang (Aug 16).

Meanwhile, Bintulu will also be hosting the sepak takraw competition at Stadium Muhibah Bintulu and muaythai matches at Naim Paragon Street Mall.

The arrival of various state teams not only marks the start of the competition but also highlights the spirit of unity and cultural exchange that Sukma aims to promote.
