Sukma: Sarawak Muaythai women advance to two finals

BINTULU (Aug 15): Sarawak’s Muaythai women’s team has successfully advanced to the finals in two events out of the four categories contested this Sukma XXI, said coach Roslan Johani.

The final is set to be held this Saturday (Aug 17).

The first event is the Mai Muay duo with Nur Arifah Mahsunah Baharom and her partner Ain Arisya Zulkeplie, and the second is the Waikru solo with Nur Iklil Zarifah Mohamad Affandi.

In today’s events at Naim Bintulu Paragon Street Mall, Nur Arifah and Ain collected 9.20, while Nur Ikli dazzled the judges with her solo performance, scoring 9.10 points behind Sabah’s Yan Jia Chi.

“Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our athletes’ performances today,” Roslan told The Borneo Post.

He said today also promises to be another intense day with Mifdhal Wafiy Ayatullah set to compete in the men’s Waikru solo semi-final.

Mifdhal Wafiy will also partner Mohamad Azrell Saifullah Abdullah in the men’s Mai Muay duo event.

“My hope is that all our athletes can maintain their momentum and stay at the top,” he added.
