BINTULU (Aug 15): Muhammad Mikail Ghazali Zulfikar, 15, affectionately known as ‘Miki’, captivated the audience with his performance in the male 54kg category at the Sukma Sarawak Muaythai event which kicked off today.
The match, held at the Naim Bintulu Paragon Street Mall, was nothing short of exhilarating. Even before Miki stepped into the ring, the atmosphere was electric.
Supporters filled the venue, their cheers echoing through the mall as they chanted his name.
As the bell rang, Miki wasted no time. With unwavering confidence, he surged forward, delivering a series of powerful shots and jabs that left his opponent, Ahmad Akid Mohd Nazrul Hisyam from Johor, on the defensive.
Miki’s aggressive approach paid off, as he quickly established a commanding lead, ending the first round with a score of 10-1.
The crowd roared with approval, their excitement growing with each passing second and Miki continued leading and dominated the second rounds and won the match in less than three minutes.
With this impressive victory, Miki has set the bar high for his future matches, leaving fans eagerly awaiting his next appearance in the ring.
When met after the game, Miki shared insights into his winning strategy.
He revealed that his plan was to wait for his opponent to get tired before unleashing his heavy punches with kicking combinations.
“I focused on utilising my right leg as my best weapon to score points against my opponent who is an orthodox fighter,” Miki explained, highlighting his tactical approach.
When asked about his next fight, Miki admitted he was still uncertain about it.
“I’ll just wait and see,” he said with a smile, and expressed his excitement for the next match.
Miki said that winning his first game has motivated him to pursue his mission of securing a gold medal for the Sarawak Sukma team in muaythai combat sport.
