Sukma XXI: Kapit lass enroute to finals of wushu sanda

KUCHING (Aug 15): Sarawak’s wushu sanda athlete Viviera Junai Justine Jawan is on the verge of making history by being the first Sarawakian to enter the final of the women’s 56kg in the women’s Sanda competition which is also held for the first time in Sukma.

Today, Viviera who hails from Kapit, showed great fighting spirit to beat her opponent Ellorna Tan Tianhua of Federal Territories by unanimous wins in two rounds of the semi-final at the Sarawak Wushu Training and Competition Centre in Petra Jaya.

Another Sarawakian Hiu Bong Shen is also eyeing the historic gold medal for Sarawak after delivering a knock-out blow to Musimar Abdullah of Federal Territories in round two of the men’s 52kg semifinals.
