KUCHING (Aug 17): Sarawak are assured of a spot in the final of the petanque women’s shooting event at the 2024 Malaysia Games (Sukma) after two of their players set up a semi-final date tomorrow.
In today’s quarter-finals at the Sarawak Petanque Court, the Land of the Hornbills’ Fatin Raifana Abdul Rahman defeated Perlis’ Nur Aqilah Khairunizam 29-17 while the other Sarawak player, Dayang Nurulnuhaa Fasihah Abang Misbahhuddiin downed Sabah’s Marysa Apple@Denny 19-15.
The other semi-final tomorrow pits Federal Territories’ Nur Arissa Qasreena Ratinan against Johor’s Norissyakila Mohamed Sani.
In today’s quarter-finals, Nur Arissa Qasreena edged Selangor’s Nur’aisyah Kamaruddin 19-17 while Norissyakila downed Pahang’s Nur Alyaa Sofiya Hafaizul 27-24.
Selangor have also assured themselves of a spot in the men’s shooting final after two of their athletes — Muhammad Raziq Abdul Rahim and Ayzek Hakimi Safingan – set up a semi-final date.
Muhammad Raziq qualified for the semi-finals after downing Johor’s Muhammad Iman Hakimi Noordin 18-4 while Ayzek dumped Negeri Sembilan’s Muhammad Hazmi Syazwan Zamzuri 33-16.
Besides Selangor, Pahang’s Muhammad Harith Muhaimin Hafaizul also confirmed his semi-final slot after downing Sarawak’s Alif Zayd Zen 26-19 to set up a semi-final clash against Melaka’s Khairul Amirul Zamrulhisham, who defeated Kelantan’s Atiq Daneal Azizi Aswariza 31-12 in the last eight. – Bernama
