SIBU (Jan 3): The Youth Wing of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch launched its first community outreach activity for 2026 on Thursday, paying a visit to the Sibu Benevolent Society to reaffirm its commitment to serving the community and supporting the underprivileged.
The visit was led by Youth Wing Chief Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong, accompanied by Youth Wing Secretary and Councillor Yong Ing Hock, and organising committee chairperson Tang Sieu Hung.
SUPP Bawang Assan branch chairman Councillor Kevin Lau witnessed the donation ceremony, which included the handover of daily necessities and food supplies.
The activity also provided the youth wing members an opportunity to better understand the society’s operations and immediate needs.
In his remarks, Lau expressed hope that the Youth Wing, under Chew’s leadership, would continue to prioritise community welfare and actively participate in charitable initiatives.
“The branch will continue to maintain close ties with the community through various outreach programmes, working together to bring positive energy and support to those in need,” he said.
A representative of the Sibu Benevolent Society, who wished to be known only as Wong, expressed hope that the organisation would continue to receive attention and support from the public, particularly for ongoing operational expenses and basic material requirements.
She thanked the SUPP Bawang Assan Branch Youth Wing for the contribution, noting that the gesture brought both practical aid and encouragement to the society’s residents and staff.
