SIBU (Feb 14): The team from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan brought festive cheer to four secondary schools in the constituency, ahead of the Lunar New Year celebrations.
SUPP Bawang Assan branch chairman Councillor Kevin Lau led the visits to SMK Chung Cheng and SMK Bawang Assan on Thursday, followed by visits to SM Guong Ming and SMK Kwong Hua yesterday.
During these programmes, they distributed New Year red packets or ‘anmgpows’, drinks, and mandarin oranges to all the teachers and the students.
“The Chinese community has always valued reunion and unity.
“Although everyone has faced various challenges and difficulties over the past year, the new year brings renewed hope and offers each person a chance to start afresh,” said Lau.
He encouraged students to take ‘the pursuit of progress’ as their direction, ‘bravely chase their dreams’ as their life goals, and make ‘the pursuit of happiness’ their motivation in life.
In addition, Lau also encouraged students to maintain close cooperation with their teachers, continue striving for academic excellence, and achieve commendable results so as not to disappoint their teachers and parents.
