KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) has reinforced its commitment to uplifting underprivileged families through direct home visits under its Santunan Asnaf Living Allowance (BSH) initiative.

TBS Acting General Manager Iskandar Allan said the outreach programme aims to strengthen ties with recipients while ensuring welfare assistance effectively reaches those in genuine need.

During today’s (Oct 7) outreach, Iskandar personally visited three asnaf families in Taman Desa Wira, Stampin Baru, and Kampung Ngui Bee Hong in Batu Kawa to hand over monetary aid and food hampers.

“This reflects TBS’ continued commitment to ensuring that the assistance provided continues to benefit those in need,” Iskandar said. “Through these visits, TBS can directly assess the real impact of our assistance on the ground.”

Iskandar highlighted that TBS actively mobilizes volunteers known as Rakan Zakat to identify eligible recipients and expand the reach of its welfare programs.

He added that TBS offers tailored support—including medical assistance, house repairs, and education funds—across four primary portfolios.

As of August 31, TBS has disbursed RM100.3 million to eligible recipients nationwide through its key development pillars: Strengthening the Tradition of Knowledge, Enhancing Ummah Welfare, Developing Islamic Institutions, and Enhancing Ummah Skills.

Also present were TBS Operations Sector Head Mohd Yusree Mohd Zain and agency officers.
