KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) has reinforced its commitment to supporting asnaf recipients through direct home visits under its ‘Bantuan Sara Hidup’ (BSH) programme.
TBS’ Acting General Manager, Iskandar Allan said the ‘Santunan Asnaf’ programme was aimed at strengthening its relationship with aid recipients while ensuring assistance provided continued to benefit those in need.
During the programme today, Iskandar visited three recipient families at Taman Desa Wira, Stampin Baru and Kampung Ngui Bee Hong in Batu Kawa, handing over financial aid and food hampers.
“This reflects TBS’ continued commitment to ensuring that the assistance provided continues to benefit those in need. Through these visits, TBS can also see the impact of the assistance on the asnaf,” he said.
Iskandar said TBS also provided volunteers known as ‘Rakan Zakat’ to help identify eligible asnaf and expand the reach of assistance to those in need.
He said TBS offered various forms of assistance according to the needs of asnaf, including medical aid, house repair assistance, education aid and other support under its four main programmes.
As of August 31, TBS had distributed RM100.3 million to eligible asnaf throughout Sarawak through its four main programmes: Strengthening the Tradition of Knowledge, Enhancing Ummah Welfare, Developing Islamic Institutions, and Enhancing Ummah Skills.
Also present were TBS’ Operations Sector Head, Mohd Yusree Mohd Zain, and staff members involved in the programme.
