KUCHING (Feb 12): Kho siblings Ryoga and Yoshi continued to make their mark in the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) Junior Age Group tennis championships when they won three titles for Kuching in the first leg (Kuching) at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) tennis centre last Sunday.
Ryoga claimed the boy’s U18 singles crown beating teammate Ethan Madang Peter Law 6-3, 6-2 in the final. Joint third were Ethan Norman of Kuching and Ferozi Abdul Rasyid.
In the all-Kuching boy’s U15 singles final, Yoshi beat Au Yu Heng 6-3, 6-4 while finishing joint third were James Kho and Arifuddin Abdul Aziz.
The Kho brothers both went on to complete a double when they outclassed Alexander Balan-Arifuddin Abdul Aziz of Miri 6-0, 6-1 in the boy’s U15 doubles final. Losing semifinalists were Au Yu Heng-Au Yu Chen (Kuching) and Edmund Chai (Kuching) and Lee Shueh Chien (Miri).
Meanwhile, Angelina Wong handed Kuching another title when she beat Nur Alya Mohamad of Miri 6-1, 6-3 in the girl’s U18 singles final. Joint third were Elishera Ano Hong (Miri) and Delilah Cheu (Kuching). The girls U15 singles final saw Nur Elsa Sito Zheng from Miri power over Ting Zhi Hui of Kuching 6-1, 6-1.
Other winners included Ethan Norman-Ethan Madang Peter Law (boy’s U18 doubles), Ivana Oh-Nur Alya Mohamad (girl’s U18 doubles), Jovian Kalang-Nazariel Farhan (boy’s U12 doubles), Lee Yee Kim-Ting Zhi Hui (girl’s U12 doubles), Lee Yee Kim (girl’s U12 singles) and Jovian Kalang (boy’s U12 singles), Cameron Sim (boy’s U10 singles), Bernard Tiong (boys U9 orange ball), Nur Zahrah Askandar (girls U9 orange ball) and Wesley Ha Heng Dong (U8 red ball).
The Kuching Leg attracted 108 players from Kuching, Bau, Bintulu and Miri.
