The 80th anniversary celebration of TYT Sarawak is a four-day stretch starting Oct. 8.

KUCHING, Oct 1: The 80th Birthday Celebration of the Most Exalted Gentleman of Sarawak State, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, will be held for four days from October 8 to 11.

Sarawak Minister of Utility and Communication embraced Minister Responsible for Connectivity, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said that preparations are now in the final stages after the last meeting of the welcoming committee was held.

According to him, the series of events will begin on October 8 through a Thanksgiving Meeting at Jamek Kuching Mosque during Maghrib and Isyak which is expected to be attended by around 5,000 congregants.

"Actually, the Thanksgiving ceremony involves two.

"One is at Jamek Mosque and the other is a thanksgiving ceremony run by UNIFOR", he said during a press conference after the meeting in Kuching on Thursday.

He added that the Thanksgiving of Other Religions will be held on October 9 at UNIFOR Complex starting at 8 pm.

He said that the summit of the celebration took place on October 10 through the Standing Line and Giant Meeting which started at 8 am in Padang Merdeka.

The event was then continued with the Sarawak State Grand Degree Awards ceremony held at the Sarawak State Astana Hall.

In the evening, the State Dinner Meeting will be held in the Santapan Hall, Sarawak State House of Assembly Complex.

Meanwhile, the public will be presented with a Folk Concert on October 10 starting at 8 pm in Padang Merdeka.

The concert featured famous artists including Datuk Awie and Aina Abdul, in addition to a lineup of local artists.

The four-day reception will conclude with a Tea Party at the Pullman Hotel on October 11.
