KUCHING, 23 Sept: The Sarawak Government continues to pay attention to the ability to complete projects with good quality and on schedule, said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo.

Speaking on behalf of Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embassy said that the matter requires all planning supported by orderly implementation starting from issues of deployment, design, utility and material supply identified early so that the project team can take immediate action.

He believes that all parties involved should strengthen a culture of problem solving with each issue need to have responsible officers, clear follow-up actions and reasonable deadlines for resolution.

"Progress reports also need to be accurate so that decisions can be made based on actual circumstances and cooperation between departments, consultants and contractors is essential to determine the effectiveness of each action in the field.

"Integrity must also be in every professional consideration technical advice should be evidence-based, checks should be carried out carefully and work verification should be done responsibly because people's trust can be maintained when each party exercises the trust honestly and is willing to take responsibility for its decisions.

"The safety of workers and consumers must also be taken into consideration throughout the implementation of the project with work planning, site supervision as well as action against risks must be consistently implemented", he said during the 2026 National Technical Professionals Day Pre-launch Meeting in Kuching on Wednesday.

At the same time, Aidel also called on all parties to take advantage of technological advances that provide ample space for improving work quality including promoting the use of Building Information Modeling, or BIM, geographic information systems and artificial intelligence as required by tasks.

It states that its use should have a clear purpose, such as to package design alignment, assist analysis and facilitate project monitoring.

Furthermore, the officers must have the skills to assess data accuracy as well as the conformity of analysis results with professional consideration and review by competent officers must be part of the work process.

Clearly, investment in technology also needs to be accompanied by adequate training so that the benefits can translate into better results and more efficient services. -TVS
