MUKAH, 3 Oct: Mudan Oya is ready to move towards a circular economy through the development of Mudan Oya Integrated Waste Disposal Site which has been approved for development in an area of 50 hectares.
Sarawak Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the development of the site supports Waste to Wealth approach, besides addressing the issue of landfilling waste at existing disposal sites for Ugah and Dalat.
"We see this project as an important step towards the Waste to Wealth approach, in addition to helping resolve the issue of landfilling at the Waste Landfill for the Oudh and Dalat Region", he said.
He said this while addressing the Sarawak My Dear 2026 Expedition Program here today.
He said about 70 per cent of the existing site's capacity has been used and is expected to be able to meet only needs for another four years.
In this regard, he said RM38 million was needed for the implementation of the project, so as to ensure that solid waste management in Bukah Division is implemented more systematically and sustainably.
