TANJUNG MANIS, 8 Oct: The Paloh Batang Bridge connecting Bruit Island to the nearby mainland is scheduled to open to road users on 30 October 2026 after its final construction works are fully completed.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the opening of the bridge will provide better connectivity to residents in Tanjung Manis, Bruit Island, Serdeng and surrounding areas.
He said the 1.7 kilometre project was developed at a cost of RM289 million and is currently in the final stages of construction.
"The final work is expected to be completed in about three weeks before the bridge opens to the public.
"The opening of this bridge is also another important achievement of the Government of Sarawak in strengthening road infrastructure facilities", he said.
He said this when he was met by the media after completing the Final Stage Connection Meeting for the bridge project, today.
He said, the opening of Batang Paloh Bridge also completes the network between Sarikei and Mukah area which is now expanding.
"Some of the major bridges previously such as Sejingkat Bridge, Lassa Muara Bridge, Igan Bridge and Tuanku Haji Bujang Bridge have been opened, thus providing more options for passengers.
"The entire network is expected to be of great benefit to the population as well as supporting the economic development of the area in question for the long term", he said. - TVS
