KUCHING, 20 Sept: Malaysian Automobile Importers and Traders Association (PEKEMA) EVfy Run 2026 featuring two categories of races, namely 3 kilometres and 7 kilometres recorded an encouraging reception when it gathered over 2,000 participants today.
The President of PEKEMA Malaysia, Datuk Nazari Nordin said that the welcome received at this event opened up space for PEKEMA Evfy Run to continue as an annual event, depending on the planning of the organizers.
"The encouraging reception received in the EVfy Run 2026 event is seen as opening up space for the running events to be continued as an annual programme in the future.
"There is also the potential to expand it to other cities in Sarawak so that benefits and participation in programs promoting healthy lifestyles can be extended to more communities across the state", he said during a media outlet at PEKEMA EVfy Run 2026 here, on Sunday.
In addition to running events, PEKEMA EVfy Run 2026 will also be accompanied by donations from PEKEMA to several charitable agencies, including the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organization (PERKIM), Sarawak Orphans' Welfare Association (PERYATIM), Sarawak OKU Skills Development Association (SOSDA) and the Sarawak Skilled Child Welfare Association (PERKATA) as part of efforts to support those in need.
Additionally, the international community is increasingly concerned about the importance of physical health, as efforts are being made to support the transition to green technologies and sustainable mobility, in line with Sarawak's desire to promote clean energy use and reduce its carbon footprint.
The development is seen as being in line with the public's acceptance of recreational activities, particularly programs that emphasize health and fitness.
