KUCHING, 3 Oct: A house on the river in Central Bintawa Village here collapsed today but all five residents are reported to be safe.

According to the Malaysian Bombing and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Sarawak, it received a call regarding the incident at 1.16 pm before members from Petrajaya Bombing and Rescue Police (BBP) arrived on site at 1.22 pm.

"An examination found that the structure of the house had collapsed and no rescue operation was necessary as all occupants were safely evacuated.

"However, an adjoining house is also at risk of collapse after some pillars were overturned by the collapsed structure.

The owner of the house was also advised to take precautions to ensure the safety of the four occupants, while the bombers set up barges in the area.

The joint monitoring operation by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) was completed at 2.14 pm before members and machinery were dispatched to the hall.

Eight members of BBP Petrajaya were involved in the operation involving an FRT engine and a Urvan-TVS vehicle.
