KUCHING, Dec 24: As Sarawakians prepare to celebrate Christmas and usher in the New Year, it is the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and “recharge” their mindset on contributing to the growth and development of Sarawak before stepping into 2026.
In his Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 message today, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian observed that Sarawak in 2025 is markedly different from a decade ago, with the State now emerging as a focus and reference point at the national level.
“We need to pause for a moment and ask ourselves: what can I do for Sarawak, and what can we do together for Sarawak?
“This is the time for us to ‘recharge’ so that when we step into 2026, we can start afresh with the spirit of building Sarawak,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news.
Dr Sim further highlighted the Sarawak’s long-term goals leading up to 2030, aiming for a more advanced, competitive, and prosperous Sarawak for future generations.
He stressed that unity, family, and shared responsibility form the very foundation of the State’s progress.
“Christmas is a special time when people, regardless of background, gather with family, friends, and loved ones to share joy, enjoy meals together, and strengthen relationships, reflecting the uniqueness and strength of Sarawak’s united society as the children of Sarawak” he said.
Dr Sim wished all Sarawakians good health, so they may continue contributing meaningfully to the State’s development and nation-building efforts. — DayakDaily
