Tuition teacher arrested over alleged indecent act involving underage students in Kuching

KUCHING, April 27: A 32-year-old tuition teacher has been arrested by police in connection with an alleged indecent act involving two underage boys at an apartment here.

In a Facebook post, Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) said it received a police report from a 13-year-old boy on April 25 at about 5.12pm, alleging that he had been subjected to an indecent act at the premises.

Preliminary investigations found that on April 24 at about 7pm, the victim and his friend had stayed overnight at the suspect’s residence to attend a tuition session.

The alleged incident is believed to have taken place in the early hours of April 25 while the victims were asleep.

Following the report, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Kuching detained the suspect to assist investigations.

The suspect, a local man aged 32, tested negative for drugs, and checks also found no prior criminal record.

The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Police have reminded parents and guardians to be vigilant regarding their children’s safety, particularly in situations involving overnight arrangements for educational purposes. — DayakDaily
