SELALANG: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) is hosting a two-day STEM carnival camp aimed at promoting the importance of STEM education among students.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh urged parents to nurture their children’s interests rather than imposing their own expectations.
“We should explore and support our children’s passions, whether in academics, the arts, or sports, as there are many opportunities available for their growth,” he said during the opening ceremony of the STEM carnival at Selalang Community Hall on Wednesday (Sept 25).
The STEM carnival camp brings together more than 50 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Mandor Aris, Selalang, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Jawa, Kerubong.
The event from Sept 25 to 26, provides participants with hands-on experience in STEM-related activities, encouraging the development of computational, critical, and creative thinking skills.
In addition to fostering students’ creativity and innovation, the carnival aims to raise awareness among parents about the growing significance of STEM education for their children’s future.
It also serves as a platform for teachers to exchange ideas and ensure the success of future STEM initiatives.
