KUCHING, March 10: Two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were activated in Kuching today to assist residents affected by rising floodwaters.
According to the Civil Defence Force (APM), Dewan R-Piang in Kampung Sinar Budi opened its doors to seven families, totaling 38 victims, while Dewan Stapok was also opened, with the number of evacuees still being updated.
The evacuation followed continuous rain this morning, which triggered flash floods across many areas in Kuching. Rising waters along key roads caused traffic congestion, and water reportedly entered homes, particularly in low-lying neighbourhoods.
