KUCHING (Jan 13): A raid by police at an apartment unit here last week resulted in the arrest of two men and seizure of drugs and assets valued at nearly RM1 million.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspects, locals aged 38 and 42, are believed to have used the rented premises to store the drugs prior to distribution.

“One suspect is believed to be the caretaker of the premises, while the other acted as a transporter to obtain the drugs from their source,” he told a press conference.

He said the Jan 8 raid netted 5.6 kilogrammes of methamphetamine, 1.8 kilo-grammes of ketamine, 560.2 grammes of ecstasy, and Erimin 5 pills weighing 120 grammes—all estimated to be worth RM328,173.50.

In addition, police also seized three multipurpose vehicles, a car, a motorcycle and a luxury watch, valued at a total of RM604,000.

Alexson said the suspects, who also tested positive for drugs, are under remand until Jan 16 for further investigation under Section 39B of the Danger-ous Drugs Act 1952.

“We are still determining the source of the drugs and are tracking down more suspects,” he added.
