KUCHING (Jan 10): Two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Krokong, Bau have been officially closed this afternoon, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) confirmed.

In its 4pm update, the SDMC stated that the affected PPS were located at Kampung Bijuray Mongag multipurpose hall and Kampung Blimbin multipurpose hall.

With their closure, the total number of active PPS across Sarawak stands at 40, sheltering 3,019 flood victims from 888 households.

Flooding has affected 13 districts across seven divisions in the state.

Authorities noted that the overall evacuation trend is gradually declining, with more residents returning to their homes as water levels recede.
