KUCHING (Jan 16): Two men were killed after being crushed by a 10-tonne lorry while repairing its brakes along a quarry road at Bukit Mambong, Jalan Mambong in Siburan today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at around 2.02pm, prompting personnel from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the scene.

Both victims, adult males aged 46 and 26, were pronounced dead at the site.

Bomba reported that the incident occurred when the men became trapped beneath the lorry, which was carrying stones, during brake repair work in the quarry area.

The extrication operation involved lifting the side of the lorry using two excavators provided by the quarry company.

The first victim was removed at 4.55pm, followed by the second at 5.04pm.

Both bodies were handed over to the police for further action, and the operation concluded at around 5.10pm.
