KUCHING: Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar attended a full rehearsal in conjunction with his inauguration as the eighth Governor of Sarawak.
The rehearsal session that took place at Dataran Perbarisan, State Legislative Assembly (DUN) here today was also attended by his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The session began with the entry of the Guard of Honour from the 11th Battalion, General Operations Force (PGA), accompanied by the Royal Malaysia Police brass band from the Sarawak Contingent to Dataran Perbarisan.
The Guard of Honour from the 11th Battalion, PGA Batu Kawa Kuching consisted of three senior officers and 102 members led by DSP Mohd Zaini Ismail.
Meanwhile, the PDRM brass band Sarawak Contingent was led by Inspector Frankie Billy Tadius and assisted by Drum Major Ghazali Bujang.
The rehearsal ended with prayer recitation and the singing of the national anthem ‘Negaraku’ and the state anthem ‘Ibu Pertiwiku’.
Later, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah witnessed a rehearsal for the swearing-in ceremony at Lapau Hall, DUN Sarawak.
Wan Junaidi is scheduled to be sworn in as the eighth Governor of Sarawak tomorrow (Jan 29), which will be attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and other dignitaries.
Wan Junaidi received the letter of appointment as the eighth Governor of Sarawak from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al Marhum Sultan Ahmad Shah at Istana Negara last Friday.
At the same ceremony, he was also awarded the title of Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara, which carries the title Tun.
