KUCHING (July 11): Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy call from members of the Judicial Appointments Commission (SPK) at the Astana Negeri here today.

Chief Justice of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri Dato Abdul Rahman Sebli, led the delegation on the courtesy visit, which was the first from SPK since Wan Junaidi was appointed as Head of State earlier this year.

According to a press release from Astana Negeri, SPK’s visit was to update the governor on the administrative mechanism for the appointment of the Judicial Commissioner in Sabah and Sarawak which required the consent of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri in Sarawak and Sabah as per the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Also present during the courtesy call were former Federal Court Judge Tan Sri Datuk Suriyadi Halim Omar former Sarawak State Attorney General Datu Abdul Razak Tready, SPK secretary Salinah Ismail and chief assistant senior secretary (Policy and Appointments) Mohd Izwan Osman.
