TYT to grace Para Sukma XXI opening as S’wak prepares for exciting line-up of events

KUCHING (Sept 6): Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi are expected to attend the official opening of the Para Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 (Para Sukma XXI) this Sept 22.

Minister of Women Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said that the opening ceremony would take place at the Stadium Perpaduan at 7pm.

Several events have been planned leading up to the opening ceremony, she said.

This includes the flag handover ceremony, which would be attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre on Sept 11 at 3pm.

Additionally, the opening of the Para Sukma Sports Village would be officiated by Fatimah herself at Raia Hotel on Sept 20 at 3pm.

The Para Sukma XXI gala dinner is scheduled for Sept 21 at 7pm, also at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre, with Abang Johari expected to attend, she added.

“Similar to the Malaysia Games (Sukma), a carnival will also be held for the Para Sukma,” she said.

She was speaking to reporters after chairing the Para Sukma XXI Main Committee Meeting at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here today.

Fatimah said the Para Sukma XXI Carnival, which would start on Sept 21, would be launched on Sept 22 at 2.30pm at the Dataran Perayaan Petra Jaya, featuring sales booths, exhibitions, performances, contests, and demonstrations.

The carnival, she added, would run from 10am to 8pm daily until Sept 28, she added.

Para Sukma XXI will conclude with a closing ceremony on Sept 28 at 7pm at the Stadium Perpaduan, with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Sri Fadillah Yusof and his wife Datin Seri Ruziah Mohd Tahir expected to attend.
