KUCHING: It was an incredibly joyous and momentous moment as the eight Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Sri Fauziah Mohd Sanusi arrived in Kuching International Airport (KIA) at 11am today.
His arrival was welcomed by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Also present were Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn and Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
Wan Junaidi was all smiles as he waved to the warm reception by members of the media, police officers including Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata, Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Ibrahim Darus, Kuching police chief ACP Ashmon Bajah and other state government officials.
After his arrival, Wan Junaidi and his entourage headed to the Samariang Islamic Cemetery to visit the grave of his late wife Datin Seri Feona Sim @ Norjanah Abdullah.
After that, he will then proceed to Masjid Jamek Kuching to perform Zohor prayers around 1pm with other guests.
On Friday (Jan 27), Wan Junaidi received his instrument of appointment from Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, at Istana Negara.
Wan Junaidi who also conferred the country’s highest award by the King – the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (SSM) which carries the title ‘Tun’.
