KUCHING, Feb 17: Sarawak Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar today expressed his aspiration that the Year of the Horse will bring prosperity, blessings and positive progress for the people of Sarawak.

“Happy New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai. May the Year of the Horse bring good news and goodness to all of us,” he said to reporters after attending the Sarawak-level Chinese New Year Open House 2026 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

Earlier, Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, spent time greeting guests and exchanging festive wishes with members of the Sarawak Cabinet, representatives of the federal government and community leaders at the State-hosted celebration.

They later joined other distinguished attendees in the customary yee sang tossing ceremony, symbolising abundance, unity and shared prosperity.

The celebration was enlivened by a series of cultural showcases, from dynamic lion and dragon dance performances to musical presentations and multilingual songs, underscoring the festive spirit and the diversity that defines Sarawak’s harmonious society. — DayakDaily
