KUCHING (Dec 28): Economic activities in the Bukit Saban constituency will be intensified throughout 2026 through the implementation of approved programmes aimed at increasing household incomes among local residents, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He emphasised the focus would be driven through a more structured, community-based approach to ensure development benefits are felt directly by families in rural areas, including by strengthening entrepreneurship opportunities and local economic activities.

“We will step up economic activities through programmes that have been approved so that household incomes can be improved,” he said when speaking at the N37 Bukit Saban Christmas Open House 2025 held at the Spaoh Community Hall on Saturday.

At the event, which drew about 1,000 people, Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban assemblyman, said the spirit of ‘Segulai Sejalai’ (united in moving forward) must be preserved as it forms the foundation of unity among Sarawak’s multi-racial and multi-religious communities

He said the value is a key element in fostering closer ties between the people and their leaders, while strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation across communities.

“This would in turn facilitate the implementation of more development initiatives for the well-being of the people in the Bukit Saban area,” he said.

Also present were Betong MP Dato Dr Richard Rapu, a political secretary to the Sarawak Premier Roseline Mapong Sabai, Betong district officer Laga Kueh, and other distinguished guests.
