SIBU (Oct 6): The new youth wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is another platform for grooming the party’s future leaders, said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

The Deputy Premier and PBB deputy president emphasised that the party needs young leaders and their ideas as it continues to move forward.

“PBB needs you; we need young leaders; we need your ideas, vision as well as your inspiration and energy.

“Your loud voice just now (at the PBB new youth wing’s Welcoming Dinner) and your courage – that is what we need. And we need your digital knowledge in the age of artificial intelligence.

“You made a wise decision to register as members of (new) youth wing of PBB,” he said during the dinner at a leading hotel here last night.

Uggah highlighted that members of the new youth wing bear significant responsibilities as they navigate a future filled with challenges.

He stressed the importance of supporting and respecting the leaders, in addition to supporting the party.

Uggah also shared on his political career, joining PBB in 1977 and never looking back since.

He introduced the members to PBB’s background, showcasing the party’s growth and strength.

“Now, PBB is the backbone of GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) government. You are joining a party that has proven its contribution to the development of Sarawak.”

He recalled since 1977, many parties in Sarawak emerged during elections but eventually faded away due to internal conflicts over leadership.

“But not for PBB – since its formation, PBB has continued to strengthen itself, growing from strength to strength.”

Adding on, Uggah said PBB has successfully united the Bumiputera in Sarawak.

“We are strong because we are united and support our leaders (with) total loyalty to the party and (its) leaders,” he said.

For the record, the new youth wing, targets members aged 18 to 28.

Among those present were PBB vice president Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Youth chief Miro Simuh and Women Wing’s deputy chief Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and welcoming dinner organising chairman, Reily Repai Maringai, who is also the chairman of the protem committee for new youth wing for N.64 Baleh.
