MIRI (March 8): The works on the new SK Long Pelutan in Baram have reached completion.

In announcing this, the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak said the project involved the construction of 12 blocks, including a four-storey building housing six classrooms.

“Other facilities include a dining hall, two hostel blocks and two toilet blocks for the pupils.

“Also constructed are three semi-detached barrack-type teacher’s quarters, two pump houses and a generator-set house to support the school’s operations,” it said in a statement.

JKR Sarawak added that the project also involved external works, the provision of furniture, demolition works, piling works as well as mechanical and electrical installations to ensure the facilities would be complete and fully functional.

“The completion of this project reflects JKR Sarawak’s continued commitment to providing quality educational infrastructure, particularly to enhance access and the learning environment in rural areas,” it said.

SK Long Peluta was previously listed as one of the 21 schools in the Baram parliamentary constituency that required upgrading or new construction.
