Vacant house razed, neighbouring unit damaged in Kuching fire

KUCHING (Feb 15): A vacant two-storey semi-detached house in Jalan Stampin was completely destroyed, while the neighbouring home was partially damaged in a fire last night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were notified about the incident at 8:21pm, and firefighters from the Batu Lintang and Tabuan Jaya fire stations were dispatched to the scene.

“The fire involved a vacant two-storey semi-detached house, which was 100 per cent engulfed. The fire then spread to the neighbouring house,” Bomba said in a statement.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing further damage to the second unit.

Bomba reported only the window area of the neighbouring house was affected.

Overhaul operations were carried out after the fire was fully extinguished, and all firefighters returned safely to their respective stations once the operation concluded.
