Wan Junaidi's experience, knowledge an asset as new S'wak Governor, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Abdul Jaafar's extensive experience and knowledge are an asset as he becomes Sarawak's eighth governor, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president, in a Facebook post Friday (Jan 26), congratulated Wan Junaidi on his appointment as the eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak.

Wan Junaidi received the instrument of appointment from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in a ceremony at Balairung Kecil, Istana Negara on Friday.

"He will benefit from his knowledge and extensive experience, especially in Sarawak, as he has held various positions in government including deputy home minister, natural resources and environment minister, entrepreneurship and cooperatives development minister, as well as Dewan Negara president," Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, said in his post.

Dr Wee also thanked former Sarawak governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who had held the post for three terms from March 1, 2014.

"Our sincere gratitude also goes to Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud for his service during his tenure as the seventh Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak," he said.
