"We are better in this match and do not deserve to lose" - Aidil

KUCHING, 8 Oct: Kuching City FC head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak has called his men unfit to lose the Shopee Cup match against Tampines Rovers FC.

Aidil said that as a whole Kuching City dominates the game well and has several opportunities to generate network.

"But overall, if you look at this game, we've mastered the game well. I don't think we deserve to lose this game.

"We have some chances and we also need to give credit to the goalkeeper as well as Tampines' defensive line who are doing well to block us", he said at a press conference after the opening of the 2026/2027 Shopee Cup at Taha Arifin Stadium, here, on Wednesday.

According to Aidil, the quality of Tampines Rovers has also made Kuching City's efforts to find space difficult, especially when the opposing team is holding on compactly.

However, he praised the reaction of his players who continued to work so hard that they managed to score two goals to change the position of the match.

Aidil also stressed that Kuching City should not celebrate the decision for too long, but instead take lessons from the opening action to face the next challenge.

"This is football and we shouldn't stop here. We need to move on from what we did today", he added.

The result of the 2-2 series was a positive start for Kuching City in the 2026/2027 Shopee Cup campaign, with Aidil hoping his team can maintain momentum and continue to improve aspects of the game in future action. - TVS
