KUCHING, Feb 13: The Kuching Divisional Welfare Office is appealing for the biological mother or next of kin of a baby boy who was left at a baby hatch here earlier this month to come forward.

In a statement today, the department said the infant, estimated to be about 10 days old, was found at the baby hatch of Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) Kuching on Feb 3.

The boy had been wrapped in a brown towel and left together with a note bearing the name “Aiden Isaac”, along with the date and time “3 Feb 2026 @ 0724 hrs”, and the words “Iban, Kristian”.

The welfare office said efforts are now underway to trace the child’s biological mother or closest relatives to facilitate further action and ensure the child’s wellbeing.

It assured that the confidentiality of any mother or family member who comes forward will be strictly protected.

“Their presence is necessary for birth registration and citizenship determination, as well as to assess the most suitable form of care or placement in the child’s best interest,” it said.

Those with information are urged to contact protector/guardian Norazman Abdul Rahim at 082-507111 or 082-507999, email [email protected], or visit the welfare office in person.

The statement was issued with permission from the Kuching Court for Children in accordance with Section 15 of the Child Act 2001.
