KAPIT (July 11): The Welfare Department office here is seeking the biological mother or close relatives of a male infant found abandoned in a bush along Jalan Bukit Jayung in Belaga on Jan 16 this year.

The baby, wrapped in a green cloth, was found by a grasscutter who immediately alerted the authorities.

The department said the child is currently placed at its centre in Kuching, with no next-of-kin coming forward to claim him.

Those who know the baby’s family or have any relevant information can contact welfare officers Jemat Kanchin (084-796152), Angelia Dilla (0111-9836224) or Brian Adam Kalong (011-31873360).

Jalan Bukit Jayung links Belaga bazaar to the Sungai Asap Settlement Scheme at the junction of Jalan Bakun.

The department also warned the public against providing false information, saying action can be taken under the Communications and Multimedia Act.
