MUKAH, 19 September: A woman died after being hit by a road accident involving a Perodua Aruz SUV in the Flyover Junction of Mukah-Selangau today.
Victim, Patricia Gula Lumun, 41, who was also a driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the incident at about 5 p.m., the victim's son, Maximilience Ariellano Manfred, 19, was injured.
According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Service (JBPM) Sarawak's Operations Movement Centre (PGO), the male victim was successfully removed from the vehicle by civilians before being sent to hospital for treatment.
"A team from the Selangau Bombing and Rescue Hall (BBP) arrived on site at 5.04 pm with a force of seven members and an FRT machine.
"The bomb squad then carried out an operation to remove the female victim who was crushed using rescue equipment", he said in a statement.
The victim was successfully removed and confirmed dead by Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) officials on the scene.
The victim's body was later handed over to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for further action.
The operation was controlled at 5:20 p.m. and fully terminated by 5:40 p.m. after the situation on site was confirmed to be safe.
