KUCHING (Sept 6): The Woo Woo Market Charity Day kicked off today, filling the atmosphere with lively visitors, scents of freshly prepared food and the warmth of a community coming together for a cause.
The three-day event, to conclude tomorrow, at The Hills here showcases over 30 local vendors working alongside charitable non-governmental organisations (NGOs), all going out to raise awareness of and support vital causes, highlighting the spirit of giving that defines Sarawak.
The event features stalls selling food and beverages as well as a variety of unique accessories and products.
The highlight would be a panel discussion on mental health and suicide prevention, scheduled to take place today at 11am.
The discussion will be moderated by Mind Brew, and involve representatives from Dee Hati, Befrienders Kuching, Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) and Mental Health Association Sarawak (MHAS) as the panellists.
Furthermore, a ‘White Cane Day’ demonstration will be held this Sunday (Sept 8), commencing at 2pm, aimed at emphasising the importance of accessibility and inclusivity for the visually-impaired.
Participating charities include SOSDA, Hope Place, Wishesland, Heart Treasures, Sarawak AIDS Concern Society, Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching, Sarawak CSO-SDG Alliance, and Sarawak Women for Women Society.
The event is organised by Woo Woo Whimsy and supported by The Hills Kuching.
Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah officiated at the launch today.
