KUCHING (Oct 4): Sarawakian singer songwriter Zee Avi is set to release a disco version of her latest song ‘Oyasumi Na Sayang’ this year.
Zee said the song is a collaboration with a Japanese band.
“My band, now known as Zee Avi and the Good Things, recently released an EP featuring three songs, which includes ‘Oyasumi Na Sayang’, in collaboration with MuchaMuchaM on Sept 25. It’s now available on all streaming platforms,” she said at the Kuching Jazz Festival 2024 press conference yesterday.
“At the same time, we will release the disco version of ‘Oyasumi Na Sayang’. The exact release date for the new track is yet to be confirmed, but it will definitely be sometime this year.”
Zee said she will be performing nine songs tonight for the Kuching Jazz Festival at Grand Margherita Kuching’s waterfront.
“Among the songs I’ll be performing are ‘Siboh Kitak Nangis’, ‘Mee Kolok Sigek’, and a couple of songs that we don’t often perform, so I’m hoping everything goes well.
“My expectation for Kuching Jazz is simply for us to have fun because when we have fun on stage, I think the audience feels it too.
“I don’t have any big expectations, just hoping it all goes smoothly – rain or shine, let’s just enjoy it,” she said.
Also performing at the festival tonight are Sarawak’s Swaiv, Suhu (Malaysia), Mellow Motif (Thailand), and Payung Teduh (Indonesia).
The festival will conclude tomorrow with performances by Improviser (Sarawak), Fazz (Malaysia), Sang Timur Band (Sarawak), Aruel & The Fasola (Malaysia), Atilia Haron (Malaysia), and a grand finale by Rizky Febian.
This will be Rizky’s first concert in Malaysia.
The festival is expected to attract over 2,000 attendees.
