KUCHING (March 7): The ‘Ziarah Ramadan and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ programme successfully took off, serving as a platform to strengthen relationships between government agencies, corporate partners and the community.

Organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunications in collaboration with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and the Sebuyau district office, the programme aimed to reach out to local communities while providing assistance to those in need.

Held in Sebuyau on Saturday, the programme began with its first session at Masjid An Nur in Kampung Tebelu at 10am, followed by another session at Masjid Babur Rahman in Kampung Tungkah Melayu at 1pm.

The event was attended by minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, who presented contributions to the recipients.

At each location, 70 ‘asnaf’ (those eligible to receive tithes) recipients received financial aid and food baskets, while 50 children were given cash contributions.

Now in its third year, the Ziarah Ramadan CSR programme is an annual initiative by the ministry carried out in collaboration with agencies under or related to the ministry.

The initiative reflects the spirit of sharing during Ramadan and aims to foster closer ties, compassion, and solidarity within the community.

Also present were the ministry’s electricity supply director Randie Abdullah, SEB senior vice-president of contracts and procurement Yusri Safri, Sebuyau district officer Ayuradiman Bujang, and Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) special administrative officer Anuar Daan.
