KUCHING (March 10): A total of 100 asnaf recipients from Kampung Muara Tebas, including Kampung Pinggan Jaya, received contributions from Yayasan Taqwa.

The contributions were presented by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, during the Majlis Iftar Ramadan Madani (Irama) held at Darul Ikhwan Mosque in Muara Tebas on Monday.

In his speech, Mustapha said Ramadan teaches the importance of showing compassion and extending assistance to those in need.

“One of the things we learn during the month of Ramadan is how we should show compassion to those who require our help.

“This is what we encourage by continuing to assist the less fortunate. Not only during Ramadan, but we must also carry out the same efforts outside of the fasting month,” he said.

He said the initiatives also reflect the spirit of unity and togetherness within the community.

“This reflects the strength of unity and the spirit of togetherness, which is also in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani that emphasise the values of respect, compassion and shared well-being,” he said.

He also reminded the community to appreciate the role played by various groups in society, particularly those living in villages.

“We must remember that they also have an important role. This is an area of fishermen. Without fishermen, farmers and others who contribute in different ways, we would not be able to enjoy what is on our tables today,” he said.

The programme was also attended by his wife Datin Rosnih Nasir, along with about 250 villagers who gathered to break fast together at the mosque.
