16 SMK Tabuan Jaya athletes picked for MSSM Meet

KUCHING (Sept 10): Sarawak Sports School SMK Tabuan Jaya (SSNTJ) students were well represented at the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Sarawak (MSSS) Athletics Championships at the Sri Aman Sports Complex from Sept 2-5.

The 69 students who represented their respective divisional teams Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Kapit, Sibu, Sarikei, Betong, Sri Aman, Serian, Samarahan and Kuching captured a total of 43 gold, 25 silver and 14 bronze medals.

Adding the icing to the cake was that two of the athletes Allona Louisa Huyang Mary and Ellysha Micheal bagged the Best Female Athlete awards for Girld U15 and Girls U14 respectively.

Allona from Bintulu won the long jump and triple jump as well as silver in the 100m. Ellysa won the 100m hurdles with a new meet record of 15.20s.

The duo were among the 16 athletes selected to represent Sarawak in the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) Athletics Championships to be held at Perak Stadium from Oct 18-25.

The others selected are Christhy Shirley Nami (Mukah), Jelita Jabi, and Hassneda Ferra Jawa (Sarikei), Joanna Sangster (Sri Aman), Natalia Abby Simon, Alexander Abraham and Sebestian Joe (Serian), Maximillan Masing and Ericson Ahin (Kuching), Reindells Wallace and Muhd Bik Aizat (Samarahan), Aerick Lee (Bintulu), Thaneraj Pillay (Miri) and Marcellino Jimmy (Betong).
