KUCHING, Jan 30: The Ministry of Education (MoE) is looking to recruit 20,000 new teachers nationwide in an effort to meet staffing needs in schools and strengthen preparations for upcoming education reforms.
In a media statement issued today, the ministry said the recruitment will involve the appointment of 20,000 Education Service Officers at Grade DG9 under a Contract of Service (CoS) scheme.
The initiative forms part of the ministry’s early preparations for the implementation of the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2026–2035, as well as for the voluntary enrolment of six-year-old pupils into Year One beginning next year.
The recruitment exercise will be carried out with the full cooperation of the Education Service Commission (SPP).
According to the ministry, the recruitment announcement will be made on Feb 23, with applications open from March 2 to March 20.
The interview screening process is scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 14. Further details on the recruitment exercise will be announced in due course.
To ensure that teacher competency standards are maintained, selected candidates will be required to undergo professional training at the Ministry of Education’s Teacher Education Institutes (IPG) in various fields of specialisation.
The ministry said the move reflects the Madani government’s continued commitment to enhancing the quality of national education for the benefit of Malaysian children. — DayakDaily
