MIRI, June 28: A 21-year-old foreign man was arrested for his suspected involvement in drug trafficking after police seized drugs worth RM39,858.
According to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the arrest occurred during a raid at an entertainment centre in Niah at approximately 3.35am on June 26.
He confirmed that a sling bag containing 121.76g of ketamine and 78.50g of Ecstasy was seized.
Additionally, RM2,760 in cash was confiscated during the operation.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
If convicted, the suspect faces the death penalty or, if not sentenced to death, life imprisonment and no less than 12 lashes.
The suspect has been remanded for six days following approval by the Miri Court. — DayakDaily
