25-year-old dies after late-night motorcycle crash in Kuching

KUCHING (Sept 12): A 25-year-old motorcyclist died at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) following a single vehicle accident at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here last night.

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the man was pronounced dead in the emergency ward early today.

He said the accident, which occurred around 11.30pm, is believed to have been caused by victim’s failure to control his motorcycle while heading towards Satok.

“Upon reaching the scene, the motorcycle skidded and crashed into a tree on the left side of the road. The victim was thrown off before the motorcycle was completely engulfed in flames.

“The injured victim was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital, but despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at 12.27am in the emergency ward,” Mohd Farhan said.

The victim’s body was later sent to the SGH Forensic Medicine Department for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“In addition, road users are advised to always exercise caution and obey traffic laws to avoid accidents,” added Mohd Farhan.
